Author Study, The Whimsical World of Laura Numeroff

Jump into the delightful, cause-and-effect world of Laura Numeroff, beloved author of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and many more!
In this interactive author study, students will explore the playful patterns, memorable characters, and circular storytelling that make Numeroff’s books
favorites for readers of all ages.
Through reading alouds, guided discussions, and creative writing activities, children will:
– Identify recurring themes and patterns across Numeroff’s stories
– Analyze character traits and relationships
-Explore the connection between words and illustrations
– Create their own “If You Give…” stories inspired by Numeroff’s unique storytelling style
By the end of the study, students will not only appreciate the humor and heart
in Numeroff’s work but also develop a deeper understanding of storytelling, sequencing, and cause-and-effect thinking.

Scholarship Qualifications
To qualify for a pre-conference training scholarship, the recipient must be a FFCCHA member and a Florida licensed or registered provider or co-provider. Membership must be valid through June 30th.
Scholarship applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
Note: Mentor 1 Certification requires a pre-qualifying application (email FLMentorpgm@aol.com for application) and 12 hours of training (both Wednesday and Thursday classes).
